CHANTING FOOTBALL
Ten Libraries in Five days in North East Lincolnshire across October Half Term 2009. Chanting Football started as an idea about enthusing boys into writing poetry but quickly developed into a link up between Grimsby Football Club, myself and NE Lincs Library Service. The idea was to develop new Football Chants which we linked with lyric and number sequences; together these became Echo chants, groups shouting at the top of their voices in Libraries, Parks and Grimsby Towns football stadium. It was an enthralling week in which ALL ages produced enough poems to complete a brand new anthology which will be displayed in ALL libraries across NE LIncs and each participant will get their personal copy. A really great idea which worked well.
Check out NE Lincs Library Service and you will see a Video of my work with Reynolds Primary School Year Six and Grimsby Town Football Club. The project was over TWO days; on the first day a group of us including Librarians, Teachers and Support Staff worked with TWO classes of Year Six pupils and we wrote, sang, circled and chanted in school halls. On the morning of the second day we took our chants to Blundell Park and let rip.It was an awesome sight and the sound was unbelievable!!!
